OPERATIONS PROTOCOLS
ENFORCED BEGINNING JUNE 1, 2020 (Revised May 2024)
Parents and staff please do not come into the center if you are not feeling well. Parents, please do not bring your child if they are not feeling well or if you have given your child a fever reducing medication in the previous 24 hours to dropoff. We appreciate your honesty.
Staff:

Staff should stay home if they have any COVID-19 symptoms and notify the center immediately. These symptoms include high temperature or fever (100.4 or higher), cough, headache, joint and/or muscle pain, diarrhea, and fatigue.

If staff begin to have any symptoms while at work they will notify their Supervisor right away.

Staff may return to work after acute respiratory illness 72 hours after last fever or five days if COVID-19 positive.

Medical clearance is not required to return to work, unless under quarantine order by a Public Health entity.

Staff should be washing their hands frequently. This means every time staff uses the restroom, eats, leaves the center, after handling phones or electronic devices,touches a child, wipes a nose, goes outside, changes a diaper, and so on, staff should wash their hands.

Unvaccinated staff to test weekly on Wednesday. This will be done in the front office before the staff member starts in their assigned area.
Food Preparation and Classroom Serving:

All food preparation shall be done with gloves on.

All food shall be served with the serving teacher wearing gloves.

Food shall remain covered and away from the children when not being served.

Tables shall be cleaned and disinfected before and after each meal.
Drop Off:

Parents maintain 6 feet apart at drop off times when possible.

Upon entrance to the center use a pen from the “clean” jar and place it in the “used” tray afterward or sign in on the table

We would like to move toward a touch free sign in. If you are able to, please download the Brightwheel app and scan the barcode rather than signing in on the tablet.

Each child will have their temperature taken by the parent at drop off. . If the child’s temperature is 100 F or higher, the child must go home. Temperatures will be logged on the temperature slip and handed to your child’s teacher at drop off. Parents/guardians do not leave the center until your child’s temperature has been taken.

Each Adult dropping off a child will take their temperature in the office. If the adult has a temperature of 100 or higher the family must go home. Temperatures will be logged on the temperature slip and handed to the child’s teacher.

All parents will be asked if there has been any COVID-19 symptoms for anyone residing in the home over the past 24 hours. Ie: Fever, coughing, shortness of breath, chest pain, or exposed to COVID-19. (This is a part of the Brightwheel login process.)
Pick Up:

Child Becomes ill or has a Temperature:

Child must be isolated from the other children.
-
Parent/guardian will be called, and they must pick up the child as soon as possible.

Child may not return to the center until they have gone at least 24 hours without a fever. If the child is suspected to have something contagious, they will be asked for a doctor’s note to return.
Throughout the day:
-
Staff will wash and/or sanitize the child’s hands upon entering the classroom.

Staff will wash or instruct each child to wash their hands before and after meals.

Staff will wash or instruct each child to wash their hands when they come in from outdoor play.
-
Staff will wash or instruct each child to wash their hands after touching their face, coughing, and/or sneezing, as much as possible.
-
Children will have their name on nap mats and will use the same mat every day.

Children must nap alternating Head/Feet and be at least 3 feet apart from each other.

Staff will take child’s temperatures if a fever is suspected or if the child is behaving in a manner inconsistent with their normal behavior.

Staff will monitor coughs or other symptoms.

Fresh outdoor air will be introduced as much as possible. Windows will be opened in each room as much as possible.

Children should go out daily as much as possible following Licensing, CDC, and DOT Tot Guidelines. Guidelines include: not going out if temp is over 100 or air quality falls in the Unhealthy category. (Ask Director if you have any questions)

Air purifiers will be used as much as possible in each of the classrooms.
Cleaning/Sanitizing:

Toys and tables must be cleaned and disinfected through-out the day. Gloves should be worn while doing this task.

All cleaning & sanitizing should be done with gloves on.

Each day all door handles will be disinfected.
-
Toilet handles and faucet handles should be sanitized daily.

Tablets will be disinfected as much as possible in the morning and at closing.

If taking garbage out gloves should be worn.

Playground should be kept clean with High touch areas wiped down periodically..
Exposure Guidelines:

If a family member tests positive they must isolate from the rest of the family. If they truly isolate then child may return to center five days after they were exposed to the Covid positive family member providing they have no symptoms or positive tests. If child tests positive or has symptoms then it is five days after onset providing they are temp free for 24 hours without any fever reducing medications.

If a staff member tests positive they must quarantine for 5 days after a positive test. They may return providing they are feeling better and have not had a fever for 24 hours without any fever reducing medications.
