OPERATIONS PROTOCOLS

ENFORCED BEGINNING JUNE 1, 2020 (Revised August 19, 2021)

Parents and staff please do not come into the center if you are not feeling well. Parents, please do not bring your child if they are not feeling well or if you have given your child a fever reducing medication. We appreciate your honesty.

 

Staff:
  1. Director or Board to call CDC.  916.661.7331 #4.  Other numbers 916.875.5881.  916.875.4756 risks #2

  2. All staff will sanitize their hands as soon as they enter the center.

  3. All staff will then take their temperature or have the Director take their temperature. If staff has a fever of 100.4 F or higher they will leave the center immediately.

  4. All staff will be asked upon arrival if they have had any COVID-19 symptoms in the past 24 hours. Ie:  Fever, coughing, shortness of breath, chest pain, or exposed to COVID-19.

  5. All staff will wash their hands for 20 seconds before entering any of the classrooms. 

  6. Staff should stay home if they have any COVID-19 symptoms and notify the center immediately. These symptoms include high temperature or fever (100.4 or higher), cough, headache, joint and/or muscle pain, diarrhea, and fatigue.

  7. Staff will wear a face mask upon entering the building and throughout the day.  Masks may be removed during meal times.

  8. If staff begins to have any symptoms while at work they will notify their Supervisor right away.

  9. Staff may return to work after acute respiratory illness 72 hours after last fever or 14 days if COVID-19 positive.

  10. Medical clearance is not required to return to work, unless under quarantine order by Public Health entity. 

  11. Staff should be washing their hands constantly. This means every time staff uses the restroom, eats, leaves the center, touches a child, wipes a nose, goes outside, changes a diaper, and so on, staff should wash their hands.

  12. Unvaccinated staff to test weekly on Wednesday.  This will be done in the front office before the staff member starts in their assigned area.   

 

 Food Preparation and Classroom Serving:
  1. All food preparation will be done with gloves and a mask on.

  2. All food will be served with Teacher wearing gloves and a face mask.

  3. Food will remain covered and away from the children when not being served.

  4. Paper products should be used when possible.  If paper products are not available all dishes will go through dishwasher using sanitizing function.

  5. Tables will be cleaned and disinfected before and after each meal.

 

Drop Off:
  1. Parents must maintain 6 feet apart at drop off times.  Please adhere to the markings at the entrance to maintain physical distancing. 

  2. Parents must wear masks to enter center.

  3. Whenever possible please only 1 adult per child enter the center. 

  4. Upon entrance to the center use a pen from the “clean” jar and place it in the “used” tray afterward or sign in on the tablet.

    1. We would like to move toward a touch free sign in. If you are able to, please download the Brightwheel app and scan the barcode rather than signing in on the tablet.

  5. Each child will have their temperature taken by the Director or a staff member. If the child’s temperature is 100.4 F or higher, the child must go home.  Temperatures will be logged at the center.  Parents/guardians do not leave the center until your child’s temperature has been taken.

  6. Each Adult dropping off a child will have their temperature taken.  If the adult has a temperature of 100.4 or higher the family must go home.  Temperatures will be logged at the center

  7. All parents will be asked if there has been any COVID-19 symptoms for anyone residing in the home over the past 24 hours.  Ie:  Fever, coughing, shortness of breath, chest pain, or exposed to COVID-19.

  8. If your child is 2 years or older please enter the first door to the bathroom and wash your child’s hands.  Otherwise staff will wash their hands upon drop off.

  9. Parents/guardians please DO NOT ENTER the classrooms. The Pooh, Elmo, and Tigger Bug rooms will drop off at their doorways. The Lady Bug*, Honey Bee, and Sunbeam rooms will use the second doorway behind the half door. Parents of Tigger Bugs, Honey Bee, or Sunbeam children please make sure your child’s personal belonging are in some sort of bag. 

  10. Staff will receive child and child’s belongings at the door.

  11. Staff will set child’s things down and wash the child’s hands if they have not already been washed. 

  12. Parents please refrain from physical contact from any child that is not in your family.

 

Pick Up:
  1. Parents must maintain 6 feet apart at pick up times.  Please adhere to the markings at the entrance to maintain physical distancing.

  2. Parents must wear masks to enter the center.

  4. Parents/guardians should sanitize their hands upon entrance to the center.

  5. Parents/guardians will wait at the appropriate classroom doorway for staff. Parents/guardians please DO NOT ENTER the classroom.

  6. Staff will gather the child’s belongings (daily report, clothes, bottles, back packs etc.) and hand them to parents/guardians along with the child. 

  7. If children are outside, go down the hall near Pooh room (Infant side) and proceed to Preschool yard fence and your child can be walked to the gate or the teacher can walk the child inside. 

 

Child Becomes Ill or has a Temperature:
  1. Child must be isolated from the other children.  

  2. Parent/guardian will be called, and they must pick up the child as soon as possible. 

  3. Child may not return to the center until they have gone at least 72 hours without a fever. If the child is suspected to have something contagious, they will be asked for a doctor’s note to return.

 

Throughout the day:
  1. Staff will wash and / or sanitize the child’s hands upon entering the classroom.

  2. Staff will wash or instruct each child to wash their hands before and after meals.

  3. Staff will wash or instruct each child to wash their hands when they come in from outdoor play.

  4. Staff will wash or instruct each child to wash their hands after touching their face, coughing, and / or sneezing, as much as possible.

  5. Children will have their names on a specific chair and that will be the chair they will use every day.

  6. Children will have their name on the table and will sit in the same space every day. 

  7. Children will have their name on nap mats and will use the same mat every day.

  8. Children must nap alternating Head / Feet and be at least 3 feet apart from each other.

  9. Groups must be kept at a maximum of no more than 10 kids in a group, as much as possible. 

  10. Staff will take child’s temperatures if a fever is suspected or if the child is behaving in a manner inconsistent with their normal behavior.  

  11. Staff will monitor coughs or other symptoms.  

  12. Fresh outdoor air will be introduces as much as possible.  Windows will be opened in each room as much as possible.

  13. Children should go out daily as much as possible following Licensing, CDC, and DOT Tot Guidelines.  Guidelines include:  not going out if temp is over 100 or air quality falls in the Unhealthy category.  (Ask Director if you have any questions)

  14. Air purifiers will be used as much as possible in the two areas that we currently have one available (office and big preschool room)

Cleaning/Sanitizing:
  1. Toys and tables must be cleaned and disinfected through-out the day. Gloves and masks should be worn while doing this task.   

  2. After a child plays with something it needs to go into a designated area to be cleaned.  

  3. All cleaning & sanitizing should be done with a mask and gloves on.  

  4. Masks should be washed daily. 

  5. Each day all door handles will be disinfected.

  6. Toilet handles and facet handles should be sanitized between children’s and staff use.

  7. Tablets will be disinfected as much as possible in the morning and at closing.

  8. If taking garbage out gloves and mask should be worn.

  9. Sheets and blankets will be washed daily and / or sent home for parents to wash daily.

  10. Playground should be kept clean with High touch areas wiped down throughout the day.

 

*In an effort to have smaller groups the Tigger Bug room has been split into two rooms: Tigger Bug room and Lady Bug room. The Lady Bug room is the room off the big preschool room and the Tigger Bug room is the room near the Pooh room and kitchen area.

 

Exposure Guidelines:
  • If a family member tests positive they must isolate from the rest of the family.  If they truly isolate then child may return to center 10 days after they were exposed to the Covid positive family member providing they have no symptoms or positive tests.  If child tests positive or has symptoms then it is 10 days after onset providing they are temp free for 24 hours without any fever reducing medications.

  • If a staff member tests positive they must quarantine for 10 days after positive test.  They may return providing they are feeling better and have not had a fever for 24 hours without any fever reducing medications.
